Self-esteem is an important part of self. The development of self-worth is of great significance to the self-system construction and the psychological development of individuals. This study aims to investigate the situation and the characteristics of middle school students in the internet era, and analysis the relationship between the interpersonal control, online social support and self-esteem, as well as the mediation mechanism of online social support.600 senior high school students in Bei jing, Shi jiazhuang and Qing dao were investigated with the Online Social Support Scale, Self-worth Scale and Spheres of Control. 587 effective questionnaires were collected for analysis.The results indicate that:(1) The total self-worth, perceived interpersonal control and online social support of the students are moderate, but there are variant differences in demographic variables, such as gender, grade and only kid or not.(2) The interpersonal control is a significant predictor of all aspects of self-worth, except individual-oriented general self-worth, individual-oriented psychological self-worth, individual-oriented physical self-worth and society-oriented physical self-worth,.(3) The online social support of middle school students acts as a full mediator between the interpersonal control and the general self-worth.(4) The online social support as well as the four dimensions of online social support acts a partial intermediary role between the interpersonal control and the social-oriented general self-worth.(5)The effect of interpersonal control on social-oriented special self-worth, except the society-oriented physical self-worth, is partially mediated by the online social support.(6) The online social support acts a partial intermediary role between the interpersonal control and the individual-oriented moral self-worth. The effect of interpersonal control on the individual-oriented interpersonal self-worth is partially mediated by the peer support and instrumental support. The effect of interpersonal control on individual-oriented family self-worth is partially mediated by the affection support, the peer support and the instrumental support.
