Practice Report Of Lenovo Overseas Contract Translation

With the increasing development of globalization, the commercial intercourses between China enterprises and foreign companies become more and more frequent, so that the demand for contract translation increases gradually. To deeply understand the knowledge about contract translation, I choose a translation task from Lenovo Company as materials of the practice report.This translation task is rendering an English service contract called Service of Field Service Provider--Statement of Work between Lenovo Company and Brightpoint International(Malaysia) SDN BHD into Chinese. In this practice report, I mainly analyze the vocabulary and syntactic characteristics of contract translation by practical cases. During the translation, I come from many difficulties, such as misunderstanding of professional terms and inappropriate expression of contract language. To overcome these difficulties, I read lots of parallel texts and combine grammar with common translation skills, including splitting,negation transfer and adverbial transfer, to analyze the common mistakes and precautions in the contract translation. After this task, the translator has a clear notion of the operation process of translation programs and the requirements of a qualified translator.
