The types of the otherland is discussed from three aspects:Heaven, earth and water. And it generalized six types of the otherland:the outer wonderland, forest and mountain caves, Hades,unreal space, paradise islands and the Dragon Palace.The environment description of the otherland draws lessons from the artistic expression in the Tang poetry and shows poetic characteristics.The third chapter describes the mentality of literati in the Tang dynasty novels of traveling the otherland. In the description of different activities between the mortal and the characters of the otherland, it shows literary elegance through the poems,song and dance in the banquet.The traveling the otherland stories model on the real life settings and reflect the scholar’s attention to the social reality. It analyses The psychology of advocating singularity from the reason for writing and the influence of Buddhism and Taoism.The fourth chapter is about the narrative analysis of the Tang dynasty novels of traveling the otherland. It discusses the study from three aspects: narrative perspective, narrative time and narrative structure.
