After becoming an economic power, the world is not only interested in China’s every move, but also in learning the Chinese language itself. South Korea’s booming in Chinese learning is now a well known fact. For example, in South Korean high schools, in addition to learning English, students must choose a second foreign language to study, and most choose Chinese. The reason why so many new Chinese Language Courses are blooming, is that these students will use their knowledge in Chinese language to get into a good college. Not only high school students but also college students, job seekers and workers, in order to enhance their value in the job market, are all learning Chinese. For example:When the Koreans and Chinese are talking, Koreans would need to check their books and dictionaries to understand what’s being said, but who could have self confidence to actually have a good dialogue this way? Therefore, in order to prevent forgetting what they learned for lack of use, Koreans began taking chi nese oral exams. In Korea there are five different chinese oral exams (HSKK, OPIc, TSC, BCT Speaking, CST) and in pursuance of getting high scores, many students spend sleepless nights studying and practicing their spoken chinese. The present author through this research explores the chinese speaking korean community’s needs, and the approach of korean people towards a variety of chinese language proficiency tests and other related contents. The purpose of this study is to compare and analyse the current bestselling books about chinese speaking in the Korean market and also the answers on a survey with over one hundred korean students done by this author. Using the data gathered from the survey to find korean students view on the different exams, it was found that the majority of the students preferences and the job market trends are closely related. Because these five Chinese Language Oral Exams are a new market, the examinees don’t fully understand it, so, further research is required after this market has been well established. The author presents in 5 sections proposals for a potential development of these 5 exams.
