Study On The Lengends About Pu Songling

Pu Songling is famous for his A Collection of Bizzare stories,which till today is famous to the world.His legends and anecdotes are still popular in his hometown.Pu Songling’s legends has a very colorful content.However,at present,the researches mainly focus on the collection and sort of the legends about Pu Songling.Nothing has been found to specialize in academic achievements.Thus,the thesis plays an emphasis on the legends about Pu Songling,through many research methods such as documentation method,field investigation,type induction,oral-formulaic theory and so on,which will have various academic values for the future research.Collecting and classifying texts is the basis of in-depth study to the legends.In this thesis,the author has collected and classified 85 Pu Songling’s legends by documentation method and field investigation and summarized them as seven themes and seventy-six types.Then,the thesis explores the folk literary features of Pu Songling’s legends from two aspects: content and form.On the one hand,the folk standpoint is analyzed through basic theories of folk literature;On the other hand,the author analyzes the themes,types,plots,and the formula in the discourse and narrative structures by the means of oral-formula theory.In the end,the author also analyzes the values of Pu Songling’s legends from many aspects,and explores the inheritance and transmission of Pu Songling’s legends.As has been mentioned above,Pu Songling’s legends has a content nearly covers his life.Such as Pu Songling’s birth and death,intelligence and good character,teaching and writing,and Pu Songling with ghosts and foxes,ect.Thus,the thesis plays an emphasis on the legends about Pu Songling,explores the folk literary features of them and analyzes their values from many aspects,which will have many role.The thesis not only have various academic values for the future research,such as the value of literary history and legend discipline,but also to some extent the inheritance and transmission of the legends of Pu singling.
