The New Kingdom Dynasty is one of the most powerful periods of the ancient Egypt.Through the continuous hard work and the frequent foreign conquests of the predecessors,the Egyptian society has reached an unprecedented prosperity.In this historical condition,AmenhotepⅢascended the throne.During the reign of AmenhotepⅢ,the ancient Egypt society has presented many changes:First,AmenhotepⅢhas carried out some measures to restrain the worship of Amon,on the other hand,the worship of Aten began to rise.Second,as to the foreign policy,AmenhotepⅢhas abandoned the military conquest,and began to live peacefully with neighboring countries.Third,as to the Egyptian art style,the traditional art concept of Egypt has met a challenge,naturalism and realism was more popular during that time.These changes are the features of the reign of AmenhotepⅢ,and later became the features of Amarna.They have some relations to the Amarna Period.That is to say,the sign of Amarna has been revealed during the reign of AmenhotepⅢ.All this changes indicated a new time—the Amarna Period is coming.In this sense,the reign of AmenhotepⅢis a transition period in the history of ancient Egypt.This paper is divided into five parts:The first part is the introduction,mainly describe the historical facts of AmenhotepⅢ,the historical position,and some current studies and the significance of this study.The second part is the change of religion situation,mainly describe the rise of Aten and the suppression of Amon during the reign of Amenhotep Ⅲ.Besides that,the reason is another important aspect.The third part mainly describes the transition of the foreign policy under this period.From the "military conquest" of former pharaohs to the "peaceful foreign policy" of AmenhotepⅢ.And reasons behind this change.All this changes have related to the Amarna Period.The forth part mainly describe the changes of the Egyptian art styles.Traditional art style has met some challenges,naturalism and realism was more popular,and the reasons for this change.The fifth part is the conclusion.Based on the above discussions,it comes to the conclusion that the reign of Amenhotep Ⅲ is the dawn of Amarna Period.
