A Practice Report On Chinese Translation Of Complicated English Sentence In The Protocol To The HNS Convention

In the past few decades,the development and establishment of international maritime conventions had reached a new level.There are more and more conventions that cover diverse contents in different areas.The establishment of maritime conventions is closely related to the development of marine transportation.Therefore,the translation of conventions is of vital importance to the maritime development in our country.This report is to analyze the application of different theories and methods in the translation of the HNS Convention.Based on the translation theory of "skopos theory",the writer adopts a series of strategies in the translation of Protocol of 2010 to the HNS Convention.With a full understanding of the original text,the writer discusses the usage of sequential translation,inverted-order translation,splitting,translation of passive voice and sentence reorganization.In the process of translation,the writer takes full advantages of "Skopos theory" to present the translation with the feature of maritime English.The complicated sentences appear in the conventions affected the spread of maritime conventions.Due to the differences in English and Chinese,the translators need to learn techniques to solve the complicated sentences.In the process of translation,the writer finished the translation of original text under the help of strategies and techniques in order to present a high-level translation.
