Research On Integral Value Assessment Of Ming Great Wall Cultural Heritage

The Act of the Preservation of Cultural Relics Promulgated by P.R.C.has claimed that,the cultural relics in national protection should have three kinds of value-History,Artistic and Scientific.However,cultural heritage value types cannot be fully summarized and described through only 3 kinds of them.The Ming Great Wall Cultural Heritage is an integral system of defense with grades and depth.As a large-scale cultural heritage system in China,its content covers many aspects,such as historical development,political system,architectural space and settlements,military system,conscript and agriculture on border,markets and trades,population and culture,ecological protection,and so on.And it also refers many subjects,such as history,politics,architecture,military,culture,art,society,science and technology,economic,humanity,and ecology.Therefore,it is incomplete and inaccurate to assess the value of The Ming Great Wall Cultural Heritage only according to the Act of the Preservation of Cultural Relics.The protection,planning and management of cultural heritage is dependent on the accurate,comprehensive assessment of its value.Value assessment is the precondition of protection.It is the essential tool of defining the scope of protection,the ownership of protection,and the level of protection.Besides,it lays the foundation of realizing the combination of protection and utilization of cultural heritage.When domestic value assessment system for cultural heritage has not been fully constructed,and people pay less attention on the economic value of cultural heritage,this dissertation tries to emphatically discuss how we could assess the integral value of Ming Great Wall Cultural Heritage reasonably and accurately through the western academic relatively mature cultural heritage value assessment system.This dissertation starts from the research status of Ming Great Wall Cultural Heritage,expounds the present domestic achievements and deficiencies on Ming Great Wall,and then puts forward the views that the value assessment is not comprehensive now.Next,this dissertation expounds the cultural heritage value assessment system represented by the Getty Conservation Institute(GCI)in western academia,and introduces value characters,methodologies of value assessment,tools of value assessment,the relationships between protection decision making and value assessment,then constructs the frame of integral value assessment of Ming Great Wall Cultural Heritage.Last,using the assessment of economic value as a rule,this dissertation introduces the methods of assessment,and then uses the Fuzzy Matrix Method to do simulate assessment in order to put forward some suggestions on the relevant methods.
