A Study On The Shang Dynasty Settlement And Societies Of Taixi Site In Gaocheng

Taixi site and the east area of Taihang Mountains play important roles in studying nation and social civilization of Shang Dynasty.This thesis employs a multi-scale perspective,analyses the Taixi Site by using the theory and methods of both space distribution and settlement archaeology,and focus on settlement patterns,society and other issues during Shang Dynasty.A detailed intra-site analysis of artifact spatial distribution was carried out for Taixi site.Besides,analysis of other typical sites around Taixi site and imeso-view analysis for Taixi site and typical sites nearby it were conducted,revealing the central status of Taixi site.In macro-settlement perspective,we observe the relationship of Taixi site and surrounding sites,diachronic evolution,the governance of the north by the Shang Dynasty.This dissertation includes several parts below:The introduction part introduces the situation of excavation,research and existing problems,methods and theories.This paper focuses on the correspondence between different types of relics,for example household daily pottery,feast-related wine and other high-grade pottery,jade,fine bone ornaments,lacquerware and other rare relics,production tools,handicraft tools,weapons,other artifacts related to ideology,and social group and social behaviors in the site.Chapter ?,analysis of geography,environment,chronology.This chapter mainly combs the geographical environment,resources,especially mineral resources and reserves in the study area,and establishes the stage and chronological framework of Taixi site.Chapter ?,analysis of Taixi settlement and society during Shang Dynasty.This chapter is the emphasis of this article.Through the analysis of each period of the composition of the settlement,the distribution of different types of relics analysis,we study the social conditions about Taixi site comprehensively.On the basis of classification of the graves,we observe burial space of different types graves and diachronic evolution,and explore the social organization,personnel composition and other aspects of the society.In a dynamic form,we can reveal the settlement and society of Taixi during Shang dynasty.Chapter?,this chapter is a comparative study between Taixi site and surrounding typical sites in the same period.First,we analyze the typical sites around Taixi in the same period.Base on it,we compare Taixi site with the typical sites in the vicinity of it,and explore development of these sites.Conclusions,in this part we generalize the main views of this dissertation.
