A Value Study Of American Animated Films

As the important part of today’s film industry,animated films have growing economic,cultural and political influence.And as a kind of cultural products,animated films convey the social information,as well as express the value pursuits of the group represented by the creators and even the values and cultural connotations of the whole society and nation.Focusing on the values of American animated films is conducive to understanding the social culture of the United States and grasping the developing direction of western values,so as to better promote the cultural exchanges between China and the United States.It is instructive to use the expressions of its values as references for the reflection of the cultural connotations of Chinese animated films,helping to broaden the channels of cultivating excellent Chinese traditional culture,and improve the ability of nationals to appreciate the animated films.This thesis is composed of three chapters.Through reviewing the values emerged in the American animated films,the first chapter sums up four different categories,respectively are American values,western universal values,western antiauthoritarian values and other western values.The second chapter makes an analysis and illustration to the specific characteristics of values involved in the first chapter from three aspects,respectively the values representation of subject,the values representation of narration and the values representation in animation technology.Based on the theory of hegemonism,the last chapter makes value judgments of spreading the western values from the aspects of world cultural development,output of American values and the influence on Chinese values.This thesis intends to provide references for the Chinese film industry of animation through studying the values in the American animated films,meanwhile,develop conscious viewing thoughts of Chinese viewers and look at western values objectively under the impact of western cultural hegemony.
