This is a translation report based on translating of the chrome ore exportation bidding document of MMTC.Bidding document is one kind of business and law text, and it plays an important role in international trade. As to the parties who intend to make a transaction with each other, correct and precise translation of such kind of text is the essential in avoiding the misunderstandings and disputes, which sometimes leads to economic losses,as a result of grammatical and expression difference between Chinese and English. At present, much translation work has been done to help bidders understand the bidding documents thoroughly in the areas of petroleum, natural gas, construction etc..However,few translation researches are carried out in the field of rare metal ore, especially chrome ore.Meanwhile, with the escalation of international cooperation,it brings changes in trade modes and regulations,as well as regional difference, which can easily create obstacles in business cooperation. Thus, translators need to work harder on the vocabulary accumulation, new trade mode and changes in regional trade regulations and laws so that they can keep the accuracy and preciseness in the translation and achieve the expected goals. This translation report starts with introduction of this translation project’s background, significance and purposes, quality control of the translation,as well as the the structure of this translation report. In Chapter Two,it describes the content of the source text and summarizes the linguistic features from two aspects,i.e.lexical level and syntactic level, with examples quoted from the source text.As to Chapter Three,in the light of the linguistic features summarized previously,it borrows Nida’s functional equivalence theory to help with adopting the appropriate translation strategy,as well as tackling the problems with right methods.Through the translation, this translation report concludes the findings and gains in this project in Chapter Four. After that,it reviews the problems met and experience got in this project,as well as the problems need to be settled in the future in the last chapter.
