Women’s Education In The Early Stage Of The Third Republic (1870-1914)

Women’s education plays a crucial role in the society development.French education enterprise has a long history of development,but the process of development in women’s education is slowly.The early time of Third Republic has a historic impact in the history of women’s education in France.In this period,all aspects of the French women’s education has achieved breakthrough development.This dissertation is divided into three chapters to mainly analyzes background,the development and some thinking about the women’s education of the early Third Republic:The first chapter mainly introduce the women’s education background of the development in the early time of the Third Republic.The spread of enlightenment and the French Revolution education germination of a new idea for women’s education provides the ideological preparation.The rising of the Industrial Revolution,which required women to obtain knowledge and skills through women’s education.The failure of the Franco-Prussian war also aroused the development of the third republic education for revenge ambition,the new setting republic needs to promote republicanism values urgently for developing citizens of the republic of France.All the factorshave greatly promoted the development of the women’s education.And the influence of the religious influence in the field of women’s education also cannot be ignored before the setting of the Third Republic.The second chapter discusses the development of women’s education in the prophase of the Third Republic.Women’s elementary and secondary education in early days of the Third Republic experienced a series of reforms.With the popularization of women’s primary education and the improving of women’s secondary education,a lot of girls’ schools setting up.Women received a breakthrough in the field of higher education,meanwhile vocational and technical education is also growing.French women’s education development took an important step in this period.The third chapter discusses the characteristics of the third republic of women’s education and historical significance,which through analysis the improvement of the education system,the process of secularization of Women’s education,and characteristics of patriotism and republicanism values of education during this period.The early stage in the Third Republic of the development of women’s education is the requirement of times development,but also promote thedevelopment of the times.On the one hand,the relationship between women’s education and the feminist movement is interaction.On the other hand,the development of women’s education have major impacts on promoting women’s right and the expansion of education,as well as the improvement of economic status and status in marriage and so on.
