Charles Dickens is one of the most popular and greatest novelists after William Shakespeare in the UK.His works,closely related with his living society,almost reveal every aspects of English society of Dickens’ time.The novel collection of Charles Dickens constitutes an Encyclopedia of the UK.The research on Charles Dickens’ novels has never been stopped at all times and in all countries.From the focus of study on his biography,to his fiction idea,and then to the means of expression of his works,the range of research on Charles Dickens’ s novels has become wider and wider.This paper will pay more attention to the diabolic weirdoes in his novels on a basis of all his works.The paper is divided into four parts:The first chapter mainly discusses the categorization of the diabolic weirdoes in Dickens’ novels.The categorized character is the biggest feature of his figures in his works.The same type of characters has the similar appearance,character,mentality even behavior.This chapter tells two aspects.One is the categorized portrait of the diabolic weirdoes;the other is the categorized psychological performance of the diabolic weirdoes.The second chapter mainly analyzes the identity and tragic ending of the diabolic weirdoes,which shows Dickens’ class position and reformist idea.This chapter is divided into two sections: the first section deals with the origin of the diabolic weirdoes.Born from the nobility and the bourgeoisie,they do everything they want by their power and status.Dickens suggests his own class attitude by positioning those diabolic weirdoes origin.The second section focuses on the tragic ending of the diabolic weirdoes,which shows Dickens’ s sensibility.Meanwhile,the unfortunate ending of those characters as a means of opposing to capitalism in the novel suggests Dickens’ reformist idea.The third chapter focuses on the creation source of the diabolic weirdoes.The first section discusses the creation source of the diabolic weirdoes from the economic point of view.In Dickens’ time,a series of social problems appeared with the economic development,including the aggravation of labor conflicts and the interpersonal relationship based on money,which forms the base of the formation of those characters.The second section discusses the creation source of the diabolic weirdoes from the perspective of social morality.In Dickens’ time,the hypocritical morality leads to multiple personality,which also has a great influence on the emergence of those weirdoes.The last section mainly discusses the creation source from Dickens’ s subjective aspect.Dickens’ strange personality and meticulous observation to life are the most important creation source of those characters.The fourth chapter mainly discusses the aesthetic experience and aesthetic value of the image of diabolic weirdoes.When talking about those weirdoes,readers have an aesthetic experience,including the sense of anomaly,reality and funny.At the same time,the image of the diabolic weirdoes also inspires the readers’ desire for good things.The aesthetic value of praising beauty against ugliness arouses the emotional resonance of readers,which has great significance in society.
