The Study On Tao Liang’s Literary Activities In The Capital City And Its Surrounding Region Of Qing Dynasty

Tao Liang was a poet in the Qing dynasty who experienced Qian-Long,Jia-Qing,Dao-Guang and Xian-Feng periods.He spent 38 years in the capital of Qing dynasty and the places nearby as a government official.During this period,Tao Liang gathered people who were good at literature from all over the country to drink,write and communicate with each other in poems,and also they collected literature material and edited books together.The literary activity led by Tao Liang reached its zenith.Up to now,Tao Liang’s Ci has been studied a lot,but not his literary activities,especially the ones in capital city region which had important influence on his own,his friends and even the capital city region itself.Therefore,this article is going to study his literary activities based on his poetry anthology such as Hong Dou Shu Guan Shi Ji,Wan Xiang Chang He Ji and Ji Fu Shi Zhuan which was compiled by Tao Liang.The introduction part is mainly about the significance and the value of this article,and to make a further research of the study of Tao Liang.At the same time it explains where exactly the “capital city region” was,in order to clear the research object of this article.The first chapter mainly discusses the life of Tao Liang and his social activities.His life is divided into three aspects: his study experience,his experience as a government official and his literary works,mainly focusing on the last two aspects which happened in the capital city region.When talking about Tao Liang’s friends,mainly introduces his poet friends,and divides them as capital city area poet friends and the other poet friends who were not in this area.By investigating his friends we can tell Tao Liang’s relationship with the capital city region,and tell his role between his friends who were in the capital city region and outside it.The second chapter mainly investigates the compilation of Tao Liang’s Ji Fu Shi Zhuan.With Tao Liang’s poems and the preface of poetry,analysises TaoLiang’s compilation of Ji Fu Shi Zhuan compiling,grasps Tao Liang’s reason,process and standards in his compilation.And from Tao Liang compiling Ji Fu Shi Zhuan biography to extract Tao Liang’s elegance and knowledge as his poetry’s essentialism;being simple and practical as his poetic style;and his poetry theory from different teachers.Finally summarizes the Ji Fu Shi Zhuan’s literature and literary value.The third chapter is based on his Wan Xiang Chang He Ji,discussing Tao Liang and his friends’ responsory activities in the capital city region.According to the scholar’s definition of the responsory poetry,it analyzes the Wan Xiang Chang He Ji,and introduces the major poet responsory activities,and clears the form of Tao Liang and his friends’ responsory form.Tao Liang and his friends’ responsory poetry included poems of “recalling the history and cherishing the present ancient” style and “describing the daily life” style,and expressed the praise for the poets in the poetry.These poems had rich content and various forms,including responsory poetry between two people and among more than two people,responsory poetry that in accordance with the rhyme completely and partly in accordance with the rhyme.During this process,poets could enhance their emotion and enrich their knowledge at the same time.With these predecessors such as Tao Liang and Mei Chengdong’s guidance and rewards,they became a creative group with the pursuit of elegant style.The fourth chapter is mainly based on TaoLiang’s poetry Hong Dou Shu Guan Shi Ji to discuss Tao Liang’s psychological change in the capital city region and the influence of this area on him.As a poet who was born in the south,he had been in the capital city region as a official for nearly forty years.When he first arrived,he felt like a stranger,after many years he thought of this area as his hometown unexpectedly.Under the influence of this area,Tao Liang became a person who worried about his country and was loyal to the emperors more and more.The epilogue part summarizes the value of Tao Liang’s literature activity in the capital city region and tell his role between his friends who were in the capital city region and outside it,summarizes the Ji Fu Shi Zhuan’s literature and literary value.
