Study On The Influence Of Group Attention On Youth Moral Judgment

Group attention is an experience that when watching the news on TV,we know that millions of people focusing on the news event at the same time.The feeling of experiencing the same things with others is called Group attention.The Group attention effect is to say that the when the groups focused on an event,the cognitive emotion and behavior reaction on this event will be enhanced,but the effect is caused by emotion or cognition still need to be verified.Moral judgement is an ability of people,which based on the values formed from we are children,to do the right or wrong judgement.This study defines moral judgement as that people do the evaluation and selection of the moral phenomenon based on the moral knowledge,concepts and standards they learned before.Considering the social reality that our society is more and more developed,and people’s living level gradually improving,we are paying more attention on the moral problem.Throughout the domestic and foreign research,the influence of various group attention has been discussed,but there is little research directly about the moral.Moral judgement is influenced not only by personality,but also by society,and the group attention is a represent of society,so this research need to be expanded.Because both the effect of group attention to moral judgement and the mediation of emotion and occupying cognitive resources to moral judgement,are influenced by emotion and cognition,we talk about them at the same time.The objects of this research are teenagers.Adolescence is not only an important phase in the formation of values,but also the most important phase which influenced by groups.Both the experimental method of group attention and the research method of moral judgement in this study are transformed and innovated based on the existing research paradigm.This research mainly focuses on the group attention effect on the moral judgement,and we have done three studies.The first study aims to explore the influence of group attention on the moral judgement,and assumes that the impact is bigger when the participants and homogenous social group are confronted with the common things.The second study aims to explore the influence of group attention on the moral judgement under a strong emotional station,that people under a negative emotion.The third study aims to explore the influence ofcognitive resources under group attention on the moral judgement.We expect that group attention will improve the allocation of cognitive resources,then influence the moral judgement.The conclusion of this research as below.(1)The moral judgement on property damage,physical injury,and reputational damage will be improved by the group attention of teenagers.(2)The values and moral judgement level of contemporary teenagers are well,but without the group attention,they will relax the standard of moral judgement.(3)Under the strong negative emotional situation,the group attention of teenagers will reduce the level of moral judgments.(4)There exists mediating effect for the cognitive resources of teenagers to the group attention and moral judgement.
