The Influence Of Moral Standards And Behavioral Consequences On Different Moral Judgment Ability Individual’s Moral Hypocrisy

Moral hypocrisy is a behavioral tendency or motive,that people desire to behave morally,but try to make they themselves avoid paying for the truth as long as it is possible.In the individual level,moral hypocrisy manifested as the declared moral level does not match the actual behavior,and in the interpersonal aspects,it reflected in when people face of the same moral violations,they give others more demanding but give their own more tolerant.Moral judgment is the ability of an individual,that after analyzing the factors in the moral scene,he can reflect moral values in moral decision-making and behavior,and this ability includes analysis,identification,selection,evaluation and so on.The results of the study have been shown that,only clear moral standards can’t inhibit individual hypocrisy,but behavioral consequences and corresponding moral emotion experiences can deepen the individual’s perception of behavior,thereby reducing the emergence of moral hypocrisy.Although this view that the phenomenon of moral hypocrisy is ubiquitous has been verified by cross-cultural studies and recognized by researchers,it is still necessary to further study whether this phenomenon is mostly significant in other groups except of college students.At the same time,although the relationship between moral judgment and moral behavior is self-evident,and moral judgment ability plays an extremely important role in individual processing and analyzing of information,there is little research on hypocrisy from the perspective of moral judgment ability at present.For these reasons,this study through one survey and three experiments to explore the influence of moral standards and behavioral consequences on different moral judgment ability individual’s hypocrisy.Its purpose is to lay the foundation for future empirical research,and give theoretical support and suggestions for educators to helping them carry out moral education effectively.The research shows that:(1)Most of young people’s moral judgment ability is at the middle level,and it increases with the increase of education,However,the subjects of the same level have no significant difference in education,and the gender difference does not have a significant impact on the ability of moral judgment.In the face of task conflict situation,the moral hypocrisy exists.(2)In a separate clear moral standards or behavioral consequences,the people whose moral judgment ability in the “middle” level will still show obvious hypocrisy,but the phenomenon of differ between standards and behavior is reduced in the other two levels subjects.(3)Clearing both moral standards and behavioral consequences that can effectively inhibit all levels of moral judgment people’s hypocritical behavior.
