Research Of Xianshi Song's “Chinese For Foreign Slef-learners”

This dissertation leads a special study on the textbook named Chinese for Foreig n self-learners,written by South Korean scholar Song Xianshi during the Japanese col onial period.Traits of Chinese teaching around that time could be compared in depth through this paper,which includes speech sounds,lexis and syntax.And this disserta tion shall reorganize and analyze the textbook from three aspects above to detect its t eaching contents and make comments.The first chapter expatiates the significance of the selected topic.Then an introdu ction of current states,theoretical background,methods adopted as well as sources of the references shall be showed in this chapter.The writing background of Chinese for Foreign self-learners,along with the life experiences and other works of the writer shall be introduced in the second chapter.At the end of this part,there will be a description about the textbook and its arrange ment style.The third chapter analyzes its teaching of speech sounds and lexis,depicting the phonetic system and the usage of its vocabulary.Chapter Four pays most attention to the analyzation of the parts of speech,in w hich Song Xianshi made a meticulous study on nouns,verbs and adjectives.The fifth chapter analyzes parts of speech and sentence patterns of the textbook,in which grammar is not taken seriously but the daily expression is highlighted instea d.The sixth chapter gives a comprehensive evaluation of Chinese for Foreign self-le arners,with both advantages and disadvantages followed.
