The Consecutive Interpretation Report Of The Closing Ceremony Of The Education Delegations, University Of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka,2016

This report is based on the author's consecutive interpretation experience for the closing ceremony of 2016 China-visiting delegations of educators of Kelaniya University,Sri Lanka.The author made interpretation for 4 people: Lei Yong,the dean of the International Chinese Cultural Management Office of Chongqing Normal University;Huang Jie,the dean of the Management Office of the Confucius Institute as well as the director of 2016 China-visiting delegation of educators of University of Kelaniya,the monitor of the delegation and the doctor of the University of Kelaniya and the volunteer who was in charge of daily life.Taking all the speeches reported on the closing ceremony as a study subject.In the first part,this report aims at analyzing interpreter's preparations which plays a key role for successful interpretation: language proficiency preparation,background information preparation,glossary preparation,and tools preparation.The author also analyzes the difficult points and key points in interpretation.After that,the report makes an analysis of the difficulties encountered in interpreting task which include Sri Lanka English accent,logic confusion and proper nouns.And the strategies used in the interpreting task such as: simplification,language structure reorganization,conversion and interpreting figures.According to analysis above,the experience gained from them will guide the author's further interpretation performance.In the end,the report comes to the conclusion part which are as follows: first,the major finds,second,suggestions for future interpretation practice which suggest that sufficient preparation is crucial to a successful interpretation which will deal with complicated and changing situation in the process of interpretation.And a good physiology is an important element for a successful interpretation.What's more,getting familiar with the Sri Lanka accent can help the interpreter be able to understand the speaker's speech better.
