A Study On Theory Of Tang Junyi’s Chinese Artistic Spirit

As an outstanding representative of Neo-Confucianism,Tang Junyi’s philosophy always under heat discussion,but his aesthetics of literature and art can not be ignored.He concerns about the times,faced the national crisis and cultural crisis with the influx of western culture,he starts with comparison of the characteristics of Chinese and western cultures to tap the spirit and value of Chinese traditional culture.As an important dimensions of Chinese culture,Chinese art becomes the focus of Tang Junyi’s attention naturally.By discoursing the basic and features with “Xu Shi Xiang Han”and “You”of Tang Junyi’s theory of Chinese artistic spirit,analyzing the relationship between Chinese artistic spirit and Chinese literature spirit,and making a comparison with Xu Fuguan’s Chinese artistic spirit,then explore the cultural implication behind it.This not only provides a new idea for solving the cultural crisis at that time,but also has instructive significance for the modernity conversion of Chinese traditional culture,and his theory plays an important role in the development of Chinese culture and world culture.At the same time,his theory also has some shortcomings.This paper is divided into four parts except the introduction.The first chapter gives an overview of Tang Junyi’s life and works,focuses on the background of Tang Junyi’s Chinese artistic spirit both local and overseas.The impact of Western cultural tide on Chinese culture,resulting in the Chinese cultural crisis,people lose confidence on traditional culture.Tang Junyi proposes to back to the original to expound the spiritual value of Chinese traditional history and culture,proposes the countermeasures of the cultural crisis.In the second chapter,the author starts from the comparison of the cultural characteristics of the East and the West by Tang Junyi,analysis under the contrast tension between China and the West hie interpretation of the spirit of Chinese art,to highlight the unique spirit of the Chinese art,then affirms the value of Chinese cultural spirit.Tang Junyi’s view of heart and nature,view of sense,and view of time and space,all lay a ideological foundation for his analysis of Chinese artistic spirit.He believes that the characteristics of Chinese artistic spirit,has also been reflected in Chinese literature,which has some same places with Chinese art.In the third chapter,the author compares the Chinese artistic spirit of Tang Junyi with the Chinese artistic spirit of Xu Fuguan,including comparison between China and West,the relationship between morality and art,and the analysis on artistic spirits of Confucianism and artistic spirits of Taoism.Tang Junyi’s interpretation of the Chinese art spirit is from the macro point of view,to compare the differences between Chinese and Western culture,especially the artistic aspects as the premise.He grasps the traditional culture of "Xin" and "XingQing",and make them as a theoretical starting point,to explore the Chinese art spirit of moral and artistic relations.At the time of the community against and even criticize the background of Confucian culture,Tang Junyi reinterprets the Confucian art spirit,and gives its high evaluation,with a view to improving the status of Confucian culture.In the last chapter,the author make a reflection on the significance and shortcoming of Tang Junyi’s spirit of Chinese art.He puts forward an equal view of Chinese and Western culture,on the basis of carrying forward the spirit of traditional culture,to absorb the essence of Western culture.Not only provide a way for the time of the national cultural crisis,but also plays an important role in cultural exchanges,collision today.But his thought also has the defect like the ignorance of the aesthetic purity and subjective idealism.
