A Report On The Translation Of "Cyber Security Observer"

“Cyber Security Observer”,a WeChat public platform that shares latest worldwide news and policies on Cybersecurity,was first established in 2014 by Shanghai academy of social sciences.Based on practice in this translating project that the author has participated in as a translator,this paper aims to explore the strategies of translating scientific news on wechat public platform,a newly rising public reading medium.The paper starts with the background and purpose of this project,summarizes its characteristics and translating standards and then makes a more detailed statement on the process of this translation project including before-translating preparation,translating process and after-translating feedback and improvement.Meanwhile,this paper makes a more explicit analysis on how to translate scientific news on wechat public platform from four aspects — the style,choice of words,structure adjustment and translation compensation.At the end,the author hopes this paper provides good reference for translators and students who will be involved in such translation projects,and moreover,stirs a discussion on this topic among translators,effectively introducing more scientific news from foreign media to Chinese readers.
