Study On The Literature Translation (1989-1993) From The Perspective Of Translation History

This thesis is a diachronic study on Literature Translation which edited by Du Chengnan and Cao Minglun etc.in the late 1980 s and early 1990 s.Although the unique literary translation monthly newspaper has only experienced a short period of nearly four years,it is an important platform for literary translators to carry out academic exchanges and translation practice.To a certain extent,Literature Translation reflects the academic trends and translators’ activities of the Sichuan translation community,which is an important literature for the research of regional translation history in Sichuan.After accessing to related information,the author finds that the study of translation history is mostly bounded by the times to study the well-known translations of the famous translators.In addition,the study on translation and introduction of offprint is noted.Among them,some translators’ translations have been strengthened in the study of translation history.However,as the carrier of literary translation and introduction,newspapers have been paid little attention to the study of Chinese translation history which needs to be further explored and discussed.In view of the fact that there is no systematic research for Literature Translation,so the thesis starts the research from the perspective of translation history research,taking the newspaper itself as the research object and focusing on the text and the historical data.And then the thesis systemically analyzes the newspaper by the concept tools of translation cultural research and the method of descriptive research,so as to start a case study of the translation history in Sichuan province.The author gets the copies of Literature Translation from the first to the fiftieths issues(the fortieth-first and fortieth-second issues are missing)with the help of Professor Cao Minglun,which time span is from January 1989 to March 1993.The author firstly classifies the literary translation in the newspapers and analyzes its overallcharacteristic.It is found that in terms of contents,the columns are numerous and extensive,which reflect the situation of translation field timely.In terms of the contributors,there are not only influential masters,but also green-born college students.Literature Translation plays an important role in the cultivation of translators.In terms of the translated works,it is rich in countries and genres,which have promoted the exchange between Chinese and foreign cultures.In terms of translation,the content is healthy,and the media characteristics of Literature Translation have a certain impact on the selection of source-texts.Next,the author emphatically analyzes the translation contention which has a significant impact in the newspaper,aiming to understand the focus of the contention in the field of translation at that time and give some reference significance for poetry’s translation in the future.Finally,the status of Literature Translation in Sichuan translation history is summarized,which plays important roles in the translation history undoubtedly.The study of the newspaper is a powerful supplement to the history of Sichuan translation and fully proves and affirms translators and scholars have made an important contribution to the study of translation theory and practice.Therefore,this study has important literature meaning of translation history.
