| There are a series of madness character traits in Dostoevsky’s fictions.It has something with the epilepsy and is the selection of his unique literary thinking.We can see the Russia’s image of Holy Fools from themad characters.On the other hand,it alsoreflects the current situation of Russia’s turbulent society.Western ideas were constantly flowing into Russia at that time,but they were out of tune with Russian traditions and religious ideas.When these contradictions focus on individuals,it leads to madness.Based on the research realm of literature and madness,this dissertation presents a detailed analysis of his novels from the perspective of madness and come to the cultural significances ofthe fictions.The paper is composed of the following three parts.The first chapter,madcharacters in Dostoevsky’s fictions.In terms of three abnormal personalityexperiences as paranoia,doublepersonality and religions orientation,analyzingthe madness and pathological of Dostoevsky’s novel characters.The secondchapter is mainly about the influence of Dostoevsky’sepilepsy on his literary creation.Because the own epilepsy,he has the different feelings about madness,that create the special aesthetic values about mad characters in Dostoevsky’s fictions.Chapter three is analyzing the cultural significances of mad characters in Dostoevsky’s fictions.Dostoevsky’s thoughts about the future of Russiais concealing in the madcharacters,whichis not only the inheritanceof Foolishness for Christ,but alsoreflects the current situation of Russia’s turbulent society. |
