This report is based on the translation of a source text excerpted from Memes in Digital World written by Limor Shifman.In this book,the author analyzes a series of popular Internet meme abroad and concluded its rules as well as their common features so as to raise a brand new definition for the Internet memes.Under the background of undefined Internet memes,Internet memes,as an uprising theory,is researched on the surface.Thus Chapter One and Two have been selected as the source text for translating,supposedly to enlighten some readers.This report is divided into five main parts: Chapter One includes the instruction of the author,the book’s main content,and text type analysis under the guidance of Newmark’s theory as well as the targets and significance of the translation experience.Chapter Two elaborates the entire translation process,from preparations to specific translation challenges and proofreading.Chapter Three illustrates the application of George Steiner’s Hermeneutic Translation Theory.Chapter Four as the major part of this report,states the translation strategies and methods chosen in this translation through case analyses.Chapter Five puts forward problems to be solved and summarizes the experience gained through translation.
