In the context of national export-oriented development strategy and the Belt and Road Initiative,e-commerce and cross-border electronic transactions are developing at a rapid pace,there is an urgent need for the market and relevant departments to understand rules and regulations on e-commerce industry in target countries and regions.In this regard,translation of e-commerce legislative texts of foreign countries is of great importance.This report describes a project about translating Electronic Commerce Act of India,Electronic Transaction act of Thailand and articles of association,which is commissioned by XXX International Law Study Corp.The translation texts will be used for the compiling and publication of foreign laws and regulations and serve as references for potential e-commerce investors or law learners in China.In the course of dealing with this project,the translator learned about Susan Sarcevic’ theory on legal translation,Lawrence Venuti’s translation strategy of domestication,the principles and strategies for legal translation put forward by Li Kexing&Zhang Xinhong,followed the translation procedures illustrated by Liu Miqing,adopted Jia Wenbo’s textual domestication to solve specific problems,as well as communicated with the employer periodically.Under the guidance the above-mentioned theory and strategies,the project was successfully completed.This report analyzes and summarizes the process of translation,the difficulties and strategies and skills adopted in the target texts translating,in particular,it discusses lexical characteristics,long sentence and textual structure of legislative texts and puts forward relevant solutions,which hopefully,may offer reference and experience for other translators.
