In recent years,the development of higher vocational education in our country has developed very quickly and the vocational students become a large group of English learners.Different from the general undergraduate students,the English foundation of vocational students is generally poor,and their learning ability is relatively weak.For English learning,learning motivation is an important non intellectual factor.Therefore,it is very important to study and train the learning motivation of vocational students.In this case,this study attempted to proceed from the theory of dynamic system theory which is a new application of foreign linguistics,using the dynamic measurement method,and deeply studied the English learning motivation of higher vocational students based on the questionnaire survey and interview survey.It also analyzed the current situation of students’ professional English learning,learning characteristics,the feature of dynamic change in learning motivation and the factors that affected their learning motivation.This paper analyzed the background of the study on vocational students’ English learning motivation,and reviewed the current situation of Chinese and foreign scholars’ research on English learning motivation and dynamic motivation.In a vocational school,two classes of English majors were selected to carry out the English teaching reform experiment that lasted for one semester,based on the whole teaching design of "sandwich model" in dynamic learning motivation and the implementation of "testing--teaching" model of learning motivation.In the experimental class,the teaching strategies of dynamic learning motivation were adopted,and in the comparative class,the traditional teaching methods were implemented.During the period,the motivation of every student in each class was tested at the beginning,middle and the end of the semester at different time points,and four dynamic motivation tests were carried out.The results showed that the change of the English learning motivation of the students in the experimental class is significant.According to the results of questionnaires,classroom observations and interviews,the dynamic learning motivation of vocational college students presents the following characteristics: The learning motivation is personalized;The learning motivation is practical;The learning types are different;Different levels ofself-efficacy exist simultaneously;The leaning motivation presents complexity;The learning motivation tends to choose success and avoid failure.At present,there are many problems in the English learning of higher vocational college students,such as the lack of learning objectives and plans,the strong dependence on learning,the low ability of autonomous learning,the lack of belief in knowledge and the lack of curiosity and ambition about knowledge.On this basis,this study proposed strategies to promote and sustain the dynamic motivation of English learning,including:Cultivate interest in learning to stimulate students’ intrinsic motivation;Change the traditional concept of teachers to create a new teaching model;Cultivate students’ confidence in learning English.
