| Risk factors are any personal and environmental factors that increase the likelihood of individual negative or undesirable development results. Cumulative Risk have a significant negative predictive effect on mental health. In this study, we first validate the dual-factor model of mental health from the perspective of theoretical and empirical research, and then focus on the mechanism of Cumulative Risk.Study one, taking cluster sampling method to collect data from 874 middle school students, and 675 middle school students were followed up for 5 months. The structural equation model was used to verify the DFM. And to test the mediating role of social problem-solving ability and coping efficacy in the cumulative risk and mental health. The results showed that: (1) DFM with simplified indicators(life satisfaction, anxiety/depressi-on) is better than DFM with compound indicators (subjective well-being, psychopatholo-gy); (2) The mediating role of social problem-solving ability and coping efficacy in the relationship between cumulative risk and mental health was significant. (3) Specifically, coping efficacy was a mediator between cumulative risk and mental health. However, the current study did not support the mediation effect of social problem-solving ability between cumulative risk and mental health.Study two, taking cluster sampling method to collect data from 1473 middle school students. The hierarchical regression was used to test the compensatory and moderating effects of psychological capital in the relationship between cumulative risk and mental health (life satisfaction and anxiety/depression). The results indicated that: (1)Psychological capital was a compensatory factor in the relationship between cumulative risk and students’ mental health. (2) For junior high school students, psychological capital buffered the negative effect of cumulative risk on anxiety/depression, but the moderating effect of psychological capital in the relation between cumulative risk and life satisfaction was not significant. (3) For senior high school students, psychological capital buffered the negative effect of cumulative risk on anxiety/depression, however, it enhanced the negative effect of cumulative risk on life satisfaction.Summary: The mediating role of social problem-solving ability and coping efficacy in the relationship between cumulative risk and mental health was significant;psychological capital buffered the negative effect of cumulative risk on mental health, there has been a "cost of resilience" phenomenon in senior high school students. |
