| English,as one Lingua Franca,plays a fundamental role in the age of information and internationalization.Along with the development of Sino-foreign exchanges,the progress in science and technology,the comprehensive quality requirements of a variety of professional and technical talents are also gradually increasing,especially the foreign language ability.Therefore,as to higher vocational students,they not only have professional,ideological and moral,and good psychological qualities,but also have the quality of international contacts which is mainly reflected in a higher level of foreign language,especially a higher level of English Language.College English Curriculum is the main territory for the promotion of college English study.The quality of college English teaching is being paid greater attention because of the higher demand on talents’ English ability.But at present the effect of college English teaching in higher vocational colleges is not ideal.Many problems exist in College English Teaching.The graduates ’application ability in inter-cultural communication is deficient.Their comprehensive quality is not high and cannot meet the need of society.Facing this kind of big environment trend,college English teaching in higher vocational college faces new challenge and requirement.On this background,the paper puts “The Research on College English Teaching Improvement in Higher Vocational Colleges Based on Non-directive Teaching Theory” as the theme,both contribute to perfecting the college English teaching theory,and provide some useful reference for college English teaching.The full text is divided into four parts: the first part includes research background,research purpose and significance,research ideas and methods,the status of related research.In chapter two the author introduces the concept of higher vocational colleges and college English teaching.Then the author expounds the connotation of non-directive teaching theory.In chapter three the author carries out the investigation about college English teaching in A Vocational College from students,teachers,teacher-student relations and teaching evaluation aspects.In accordance to questionnaire survey results,the author finds out the present problems in teaching practice and analyzes the reasons in depth.The fourth part is the core part of this paper.The author orients the problems in the practice and carries out the countermeasures research in order to optimize college English teaching within the framework of non-directive teaching concept. |
