This thesis is a study on using Anki and traditional vocabulary learning strategies of high Chinese level foreign students.Based on the vocabulary learning strategies and Chinese as a second language theory we studied the results of using computer program and traditional learning strategies during the vocabulary learning.We carried on an experiment in order to discover whether it is better to use an innovative program for learning or traditional learning strategies to learn Chinese vocabulary.During the experiment we had two groups of foreign students.The first group was using Anki for vocabulary learning,the second group used traditional learning strategies.After two weeks they participated in the exam and based on the exam results analysis we made following conclusions: using Anki has a positive impact on the vocabulary learning.Anki was successfully used in learning the correct pronunciation,meaning and cultural background of the word.However Anki wasn't effective in studying the characters writing.Moreover,Anki and traditional learning strategies had the same influence on the ability of using the learned vocabulary.Based on the acquired results and analysis we provided some suggestions for the Chinese teachers and learners.
