A Comparative Study On The Landscape Painting Of Yuan Qing Dynasty

Hermit culture is a special cultural phenomenon of ancient Chinese society.It has an intimate connection with the soil of economy,the origin of thought,the political atmosphere as well as the culture preference of China.Influenced by many factors,hermit culture presents different characteristics in different historical periods.Yuan dynasty and Qing dynasty are two extremely rare feudal dynasties in Chinese history that are unified by minorities.The unique phenomenon appeared in the art field of these two dynasties was the great emerging of hermits.As the subject of painting creation,hermits brought hermit culture and hermit art into prosperity,which brought fresh air and changes to Chinese art and made Yuan and Qing dynasty become the peak of the development of literati painting.The hermit landscape paintings of Yuan dynasty and Qing dynasty both have an important position in Chinese art history.It can be said that without the hermit landscape art of these two dynasties,literati painting and landscape painting cannot develop and become mature.Abundant artistic treasure created under special historical background by hermit painters of Yuan and Qing dynasty is a significant part of Chinese painting.Their constant exploring and pursuit of art makes art become more mature and closer to life.In this process,painters’ ultimate pursuit of “beauty” becomes a beauty of life transcendence.It is a process of experiencing all things and integrating oneself with all things together.Through this process,painters acquire the comfort of soul and attain the state of the harmony between man and nature.Both now and in the future,this change of landscape painting has an indelible influence on the development of the landscape painting art.Their spirit of expressing emotions and sustaining innovations also promotes the revolution of the development of landscape painting.Therefore,comparing and studying the hermit landscape art can not only give us a clear-eyed view of the development of literati painting but also let us understand different life experience and inner world of those hermits’ heart at that time.According to the situation of Yuan dynasty and Qing dynasty,we can see that their generality is the flourishing of hermit landscape painting under the rule of minorities.As a special group,hermits make an important contribution to the development and maturity of landscape painting in Yuan and Qing dynasty.Thus,this article aims at the study of the hermits of Yuan and Qing dynasty,especially the comparative study of hermit landscape painting of Yuan and Qing dynasty.Through comparing the political,economic and cultural difference between Yuan dynasty and Qing dynasty,I try to use the perspective of the development of art to find the difference of hermit landscape art between Yuan dynasty and Qing dynasty.Four masters of the Yuan dynasty and four monk painters of the early Qing dynasty are typical cases.According to specific comparison of their work,I try to find their different artistic ideologies,painting styles and aesthetic tastes.From the perspective of inheritance and development,I try to find their different hermit styles of landscape art and finally find the development venation of hermit landscape.
