An Experimental Study About The Impact Of Suicide Report On Attention Bias And Suicide Ideation Of College Students

Objective and significanceThis study had great significance for suicide prevention and suicide reports’specification.The current college students suicide events frequently occur in groups,and the suicide idea is an effective predictor of suicidal behavior.So this study of college students’ suicide idea could provide theoretical basis for suicide prevention.It had great significance for control of suicide behavior and reduce the suicide rate.The suicide events as sensitive topics and public health problems were always be attractive to media and public’s attention.But the irresponsible suicide reports can lead to negative experience and suicidal imitation of audience.To explore the suicide reports’ influence of college students’ suicidal ideation could provide empirical basis to proof the importance of suicide reports’ specification.Therefore,the study had importance social significance to supervise the media workers to strengthen emotional actively guide.This study aimed to implement an intervene experiment to explore the influence of suicide reports’ standardization on college students’ attention bias and suicidal ideation.To prove the anomie suicide reports compared with standard suicide reports would cause the attention bias to negative information and stronger suicidal ideation.Based on the study to provide theoretical basis and reference for standardize the media reports and college students suicide prevention.Methods and SubjectsRecruiting college students volunteer as testee and using the and as experiment material.The testee were divided into two groups(control group and experimental group).Everyone operated on the lab computer indenpendently.The control group would read a standardize suicide report and the participants of experimental group would read an anomie suicide report.Then both groups of participants would experiment the Probe Detection Task,the Implicit Association Test(IAT)and the Self-rating Idea of Suicide Scale(SIOSS).Results1.Both of the experimental group subjects’ and the control subjects’ reaction time were significant shorter than neutral reaction time after read the suicide reports.2.The control group scores of happiness on negative words and suicidal words were significantly higher than the experimental group.3.The experimental group subjects implicit suicidal ideation score was significantly higher than the control group scores.4.The control group’s positive factor scores of explicit suicidal ideation were higher than experimental groups scores.5.The results of implicit suicidal ideation and explicit suicidal ideation are not relevant.Conclusion1.Both of the anomie suicide reporting and standard suicide reporting could cause the students’ attention bias to suicide related words.2.The anomie suicide report would reduce the college students’ happiness and strengthen the negative emotions on the negative information and suicidal information.3.The anomie suicide report could enhance the college students’ implicit suicidal ideation.5.The anomie suicide report would reduce the college students’ positive factor of explicit suicidal ideation.6.The college students’ implicit suicidal ideation and explicit suicidal ideation were independent of each other.
