A Study Of Masculine Image Of Movies Directed By Chinese Rising-generation Female Directors From New Century

Since film appeared, numerous films have been released and accepted with masculine thought and view. Generation by generation,woman from a masculine point of view in the cinema affect the others psychologically and developmentallyon screen and off screen. It is an urgent requirement to select masculine images ofChinese female directors' films as the study objective, in order to observe the male in female world, the development of women themselves and the complexity of social gender.In this thesis, the manifestation of male image has been analyzed via the following four aspects step by step. First of all,the first chapter is reviewing thehistory of male image in Chinese female directors' movie. Furthermore,development process of male image has been summarized through film works from female directors in different periods. The second chapter focuses on character trait and psychological disposition of male image both internal and external in newcentury female directors' movie, in order to conclude various male image and masculinity. The third chapter excavates and expounds the ideological connotationand sociocultural value of male image. Moreover, dissects the deep meaning of it.The fourth chapter discusses limit and origin of new generation female directors'creation. And explores the creative dilemma of current female directors.Therefore, this thesis analyzes the male character of movies created by female directors in the rising generation, according to the feminist perspective, supportingby the feminist theory and basing on the female film noumenon. Discussing thebuilding and development in sexual relationships and the change of social status ofmen could explore women's thinking model, social status, development and changein new millennium. Consequently , consider sexual relationship and gendered division of labor of future social development in order to find a more equal andharmonious social environment and interpersonal relationship.
