The Military Strategic Status Of The Northern Song Dynastyin Northern Shaanxi

The early Northern Song Dynasty,northwest Liao,Xixia and other nomadic nation,had formed a situation of tripartite confrontation with Song." Northern Shaanxi" refers to the northern region of Shaanxi Province and roughly equivalent to Yanan city in Shaanxi province and Yulin city.The Northern Shaanxi area of the Song Dynasty contained a surname Yan Lu,Jilu,Yanzhou,Dan,Fang,Suide military,security forces and Linzhou,state government.Due to the unique geographical location,northern Shaanxi military had always been a hotly contested spot.The northern Shaanxi bordered on Liao and Xia West and played a important role in the Song-Liao war.Therefore,the Northern Song Dynasty paid much attention to its strategic status.This paper is divided into five partsThe first part is the introduction and discusses the significance of the article.The Northern Shaanxi area is located in the Northern Song Dynasty Song Xia confrontation line and it was the first place for song and xia dynasty.So the research on the strategic position of North Shaanxi is beneficial to the understanding of Northern Shaanxi in the Song-Xia war has a special status and plays a great role;Secondly,from the Song-Xia war in northern region of Shaanxi Province,the Northern Song Dynasty military system and the military frontier strategic perspective etc.This paper discusses the academic circles’ s study on the status of the Northern Song Dynasty in the Northern Shaanxi military strategic position.The second part is the brief introduction of the Northern Shaanxibefore Northern Song Dynasty and the operation in the North Shaanxi area during the Zhou,Qin,Han,Tang Dynasty.From the pre-Qin period,after the Southern and Northern Dynasties,Sui,Tang and Five Dynasty,this area was a multi fight state.Until the Song Dynasty and the Western Xia Dynasty had confronted in Northern Shaanxi period,the war betweenSong-Xiawas mostly occured in Northern Shaanxi Province.And the strategic position of Northern Shaanxi was further highlighted.Both sides of Song and Xia were also awared of the importance of Northern Shaanxi for their respective rule.The third part is the Song-Xia war for the Northern Shaanxi and the strategic position of the North Shaanxi area was gradually increased.During Taizong time,Xixia began to give pressure on the border of song,but the song had been regarded as a restless heart.Military governorship wants to be destroyed,but did not give enoughattention.Until Renzong dynasties,the son of Li Deming-Li Yuanhao became the king of the Xixia.Thus,Xixia attacked in Northern Song Dynasty and the Northern Song Dynasty was strategic defense.Shenzong is the most active Emperor after Taizong,and his strategic objective of Xixia was very clear,so in the period of Shenzong the strategic from defense to offensive.At the end years of Shenzong,the Song has a great military advantage in Northern Shaanxi but Xixia disadvantage.The Song Dynasty,the different stages of the war,the Song Dynasty has a different understanding of the strategic position of Northern Shaanxi.But on the whole,song Ting has begun to attach importance to northern Shaanxi,so the Western Xia Dynasty and the Northern Shaanxi region launched a fierce battle.The fourth part is the military layout adjustment of the Northern Song Dynasty in the Northern Shaanxi.In order to attack the Northern Shaanxi,the Song adiusted the Northern Shaanxi’s administrative system and made the administrative system of this area has the obvious features of the military;At the same time,in the North Shaanxi area to deploy a large number of the regular army,Fanbing army and the fort.These have become an important means of the Song in Northern Shaanxi.The fifth part is the historical significance of the strategic layout of Northern Shaanxi.The strategic layout of the Song Dynasty in Northern Shaanxi has certain significance for the war situation and future generations.The influence on the war situation at that time not only hindered the rapid attack of the Western Xia army,but also alleviated the military pressure of Hedong road;Owning to the frequence of the war,the region’seconomic and social is destituted.The impact on future generations is mainly on the Northern Shaanxi ecological,Fort ruins and towns,people from outside of local education.Although the battle in Northern Shaanxi between the Song and Xia led to frequent wars in the region,it had a bad impact on the economy and society of northern shaanxi;But in any case,in Northern Shaanxi in the Song-Xia war play an important role is beyond doubt,and the Song government’schanges in Northern Shaanximanagement measures can also see the status of this period in the Northern Shaanxi constantly highlighted.
