Chinese Directional Complement is frequently used,consequently it is one of the emphasis in Chinese teaching and also one of the difficulties for students in their Chinese as a second language study.The structure of complements of direction is complex,together with its semantic grammaticalization.Besides,Indonesian doesn’t have this equivalent grammar,which makes students have great difficulties in grasping it.First,this paper will concentrate on comparing the Chinese and Indonesian language of directional verb “ shang ”(上)group and “ xia ”(下)group,with the aim to find out the typical differences between the two languages.Then,questionnaire survey makes the quantitative analysis of the Indonesian students in different levels.This paper divides the error of complement into three categories: misplacing objects;misuse of complement and the error of omitted category.At last,there are some corresponding teaching strategies based on the characteristic and the reason of errors in order to help the Indonesian students to master the usage of complements of direction in Chinese language.
