On The Relationship Between Late Ottoman Empire And Germany(1871-1918) | | Posted on:2018-02-18 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:H Lin | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2335330533957536 | Subject:History | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | The relationship between Germany and Ottoman Empire during the period of time 1871-1918 is based on both of their own foreign policies which benefit them the best.German wanted to expand their economic and politic influences in the Ottoman Empire,and Ottoman need the German’s assistance to improve the politic and military reform,counterbalance British and France influence to ensure the empire to survival.This thesis analyses the relationship between Germany and Ottoman Empire from 1871 the year of the unity of German to the end of the first World War.Apart of the introduction and conclusion,the article is divided into 3 chapters:Firstly introduce the early interactions between the two countries in history,taking Austria and Prussia as the sample to overview the course and reasons for both sides interactions;then illustrate the development of relationship between Germany and Ottoman Empire during the Hamid regime,including the dilemma of the Ottoman suffered in the later 19 th century,and the effect of Berlin Conference on the two sides,on one hand,the Berlin Conference is the turning point of the attitude of Germany that involve in the Ottoman affairs from passive to initiative,certainly it was based on the improvement of Germany itself and the changes of international situation.On the other hand,the new territory division in the Berlin Conference caused many problems,accelerated the disassembly process of Ottoman Empire.The Sultan had to seek a new direction and country to associate with,as well as adjust his foreign policies.After that the interaction in the military and cooperation in the economy,especially the collaboration in the Bagdad railway set up the foundation of the partnership of Germany and Ottoman.Then the dynamic change after the Young Turks Revolution in the Ottoman empire,which brought a little setback to the bilateral relations,but it didn’t hamper the partnership between two sides.Finally,the bilateral relationship reached the summit after the Turkey attacked Russia and joined the Central Power,start holy war against Russia in the Middle East. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Otto-German Relations, Berlin Conference, Bismarck, Wilhelm II, Abdulhamid II | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
