This simulation interpreting report is based on Sonia Nazario‘s speech delivered in Missouri State University in 2016.It analyzes, discusses and summarizes the problems in interpreting such as pause, message loss and translation mistake based on cognitive load theories.Based on Gile‘s effort model, this paper attributes these problems to overload in listening,memory,note-taking and production in interpreting. This paper also illustrates the methods to cope with these overloads, such as transliteration, omission, syntactic linearity, conversion, reconstruction and so on.This interpreting report consists of five chapters. The first chapter briefly introduces this interpreting task;the second chapter introduces the preparation work for this interpreting, its speech content and the standard of conference interpreting;the third chapter gives a briefing of cognitive overload and cognitive overload theory in consecutive interpreting;the fourth chapter illustrates the strategy to cope with these cognitive overloads;at last, there is a self-evaluation and summary for this simulation interpreting practice.
