| Quality is the foundation in the realm of business,so translation quality also determines the fate of the language service providers.Translation quality has long been the focus in academy and in practice but there are still no generally accepted objective criteria for evaluating the translation quality.In Internet Age,globalization has expanded the language service market immensely.Source material to be translated is not only the written documents but also the website,software,apps and other electronic products.Translation is no longer the translator’s own activities but the team work.Modern translation project is featured by multiple languages,complicated content,group cooperation and process management.Information age has posed new challenges to the language service providers and new requirements to translators.The author spent the summer vacation working in Guangzhou Lan-bridge Information Technology Co.,Ltd as a translator.During the internship,the author had a better understanding about the differences between traditional translation and modern translation project,and learned that translation quality assessment in the industry is much different from the academic circle.Meeting the client’s requirements is the first and foremost standard in practice.The author has adopted a variety of computer-aided translation tools to control the translation quality in three stages.Before translation,the author analyzed the source text and prepared the glossary and corpus.When translating,the author communicated with the project manager immediately to avoid any misunderstanding of the source text.After translation,the author checked the target documents with quality assurance tools.This report is divided into six chapters.Chapter one focuses on the changes in the language service industry.Chapter two introduces the basic information about internship company and key positions required in the translation project.Chapter three compares the translation quality assessment in academy and the professional standards in practice.Chapter four analyzes the translation project process and the tools used in translation project.Chapter five concentrates on the specific measures taken by the author to control translation quality in the real translation projects.Chapter six is the internship summary and learning.The author realized that language competence is insufficient for a professional translator,instrumental competence and a perfect knowledge of other domains also required. |
