Textual Features And Translation Methods Of The Social Science Documents

The author participated in the internship at Guangzhou Lan-bridge Information Technology Co.,Ltd(Hereinafter referred to as Lan-bridge)from July 18,2016 to September 18,2016.The author was allocated to the project department of Chinese social science defined by Lan-bridge during the field practice to play the role as a translator.The company classified all the translation documents including the political articles,news and magazines into the social science documents,which extended the type of social science documents into a wide range.Therefore,all the translation projects participated by the author were under the definition of social science documents from Lan-bridge.Because the characteristics of translation projects were small,he would select two translation projects as examples to elaborate the entire translation process.This paper analyzed the textual features of social science documents through the translation projects participated by the author,and the translation methods adopted in the social science documents.To sum up,the textual features of social science documents could mainly be divided into three types: terminology,idioms,and the long and complex sentence.By analyzing the textual feature of the social science documents and the translation practice,two main types of translation methods were concluded according to the specific translation strategy: the literal translation and free translation.In addition,the author analyzed his understanding for the textual features of the social science documents as well as the translation methods adopted by himself,in an aim to bring experience to the students who are willing to work as a translator.
