| Entering the 21 st century,the globalization develops quickly with the interconnectivity of nearly all aspects in the world,among which knowledge globalization drives the other parts.The open class of colleges and universities manifests the blooming of it.Few Chinese students watch foreign open classes on Internet due to their insufficient command of English when it took place.With the appearance of subtitling translation,more and more Chinese students have shown more interest in the open class and gain knowledge through it,which is becoming one of the critical resources to acquire knowledge.Different from the subtitling translation on films and TVs,subtitling translation of open class boasts its own characteristics,affecting the translation of subtitle.As an audio-visual translation,subtitling translation has general characteristics: instantaneity,popularity and no notes,which affects the quality of translation.Skopostheorie,a critical theory of German Functional Theory,pays attention to the target text and its relevant culture instead of the source text,and boasts the skopos rule,coherence rule and fidelity rule.A host of examples are adapted in this thesis to prove the rationality of the chosen translation strategies,such as omission,compression,domestication,addition,free translation,conversion,and literal translation,etc.As a practice report with the theme of subtitling translation,the thesis researches the subtitling translation of open class,expounding translation strategies and skills applied in the practice as well as translator’s thinking.Firstly,development history and current situation of subtitling translation of open class at home and abroad are analyzed;secondly,the definition and three rules of skopostheorie are explained;finally,the adapted translation methods and skills are summarized based on the case analysis.Besides,the main questions encountered by the translator are listed to provide him with the research direction in the future. |
