A Peaceful Palce For Intellectuals During Wartime

A large number of intellectuals and cultural celebrities gathered in Kunming in the period of the war of Resistance against Japan,which wrote many beautiful articles to describe Kunming.With the wartime situation as the fundamental ground,this paper,based on combing the history and culture of Kunming focuses on two core theme— "what is the literature image of Kunming in wartime" and "why do they love to write Kunming like this" in the way of intensive reading to study the spiritual connection between writers’ creative writings and Kunming and to discuss the poetic image of Kunming during the wartime,literary men’spoetic lives,the intellectuals’ national identity and so on.This paper containssix parts.Introduction is the beginning part.It contains the value of theme,research content and research methods through combing the present situation of this research.The first chapter is concerned with a city in Huaxia border and chances in wartime—The iterary men and the gathering in Kunming which simply presents the wild image of Kunming in literature before warand the building history of Kunming and studies the cultural characteristics of Kunming during the wartime:Freedom culture and the local culture leading role.Beijing School writers(京派作家)and liberal writers are the main exiles to Kunming during the war.The spirit of Kunming correspond with these writers.Most of their writings are describing Kunming’s poetry rather than Kunming’s"little Paris"modern image and democratic stronghold image.Kunming is still a peaceful and free city although it is in the flame of wars with prices soaring.The second chapter: The great comfortable Spring City—the description of Kunming’s poetry.The multicolored natural scenery,flowers of Spring City,the paradise the place of interests and the gender and innocent people are the specific descriptions of Kunming’s poetry wrote by literary men.The beautiful natural scenery owns literary men’s heart so that they are immersing the landscape of Kunming with forgetting to inspect the flows of this city.They describes this city full of poetry.The third chapter: The peaceful and leisure city of during the war—the poetic dwell in Kunming.People always have “peaceful” impression on Kunming during the wartime.Literary men accompanying with beautiful natural scenery enjoys the rare poetic life in this peaceful and leisure city.When the alarm sounds,they hide with fun and unhurried altitude.Or they taste the delicious food in the streets,or hang around in the towns and countries,with living in countryside like a hermit.Or they recall their lives in Beiping with living in Kunming.Fourth chapter: Intellectuals and their national spirit in books.The ideal living situation and Intellectuals with healthy personality are emerged in the novels with Kunming and Southwest Associated University as the background.Intellectuals protect the national culture with cultural adherence and cultural inheritance as the tool of fight.The fight with the culture as a weapon against invasion.Kunming is the second Beiping in their heart,and protecting Kunming is protecting Beiping,and protecting Beiping is protecting China.The last part: The background of writing for Kunming— the immigrating literary men’s writing altitudes.kunming’s Poetry has very close connection with Geographical environment and humane environment,which is also full of the peaceful and leisure style.The people and city has mutual effect can be read.However,With the restriction of the literary form and the heart of leaving,it is difficult to write the relationship between city and literary men in an way of expansion.Kunming is the place of laying tired heart.Leaving Kunming means the victory of anti-Japanese war.
