A Report On Translation Of Nightmare In Paradise (Excerpts)

Drawing on the translation of the novel Nightmare in Paradise,this report takes the pragmatic markers as its research object and purports to explore their translatability.Pragmatic markers can convey some pragmatic information and perform specific interpersonal and pragmatic functions in the process of communication.Under the guidance of relevance theory and relevance theory of translation,I analyze the contextual constraints in the process of translating the pragmatic markers well,oh and so and argue that the translator should observe the principles of functional equivalence and equivalence of optimal relevance in the translation of pragmatic markers by adopting variation translation.On the condition of functional equivalence,the optimally relevant interpretation the target reader obtains from the target text is equivalent to the optimally relevant interpretation achieved by the original reader from the original text.
