Contribution Of Subjectivity To Word Sense Disambiguation Of English Quasi-modal Verb Be Going To

Subjectivity in human language reflects human?s attitudes,emotions and evaluation.As one of the senses of quasi-modal verbs,subjectivity contributes to the word sense disambiguation.The contribution of subjectivity to word sense disambiguation of quasi-modal verb provides effective basis for word sense disambiguation from the quantitative aspect.Formal concept analysis method,as a valid method of knowledge acquisition,provides effective tool for semantic disambiguation,knowledge discovery and other research in natural language processing.Based on the formal context,the attribute partial ordered structural diagram can provide visualized processing of effective rules extraction,which obtains the relationship between knowledge and knowledge.Based on formal concept analysis theory,the thesis analyzes the interaction among the different attributes of quasi-modal verbs be going to form the formal context and explores the subjectivity contribution to word sense disambiguation of English quasi-modal verbs be going to by using the attribute partial order tool.The study is based on 2.5 million-word natural corpus,including nine genres: legal,literature,news,science books,academic papers,oral presentations,movie subtitles and academic forums.The research classifies the meaning of be going to into three categories,including(1)cognitive meaning-prediction,(2)root meaning-intention and(3)deontic meaning-directive based on previous studies and authoritative dictionaries,and annotates the corpus according to the categories.The research achieves the formal context and the attribute partial ordered structural diagram by choosing subjectivity characters,three co-occurrence syntactic characters and the mutual information as the attributes and three senses of be going to as the objects.The accuracy of word sense disambiguation is 86.92%.The subjectivity contribution to the word sense disambiguation of English quasi-modal verb be going to is higher than that of speaker?s involvement,the stative verb as the predicate and the animate subject,but lower than that of semantic feature in terms of the calculation result.Word sense disambiguation of English quasi-modal verbs fills the gaps of the research on word sense disambiguation of the English quasi-modal verb in modal verb study.The research on subjectivity contribution to word sense disambiguation provides basis for future disambiguation studies in the aspects of choosing the attributes,and it is significant for word sense disambiguation and knowledge discovery research.
