| The Obama Administration made unprecedented initiatives on addressing the already-proved global warming while facing strong resistance from skepticism over global warming.Given the influence of mass media on public perception,research on whether news reports in that period are credible enough to change public opinions and facilitate policy-making is warranted.By analyzing news reports on global warming in The New York Times during the first term of President Obama,this study is to discuss how The New York Times’ discourse on global warming was represented from the discourse-historical approach(DHA)in order to evaluate the credibility of these reports.According to the evaluation criteria of expertise,objectivity and social role,this study finds that The New York Times’ discourse on global warming from January 20 th,2009 to January 20 th,2013 is credible on the whole. |
