| As the pioneer of Latin American magic realism,Gabriel Garcia Marquez deserved the Nobel Prize for Literature at the award ceremony in 1982.His representative works include Dead Branches and Leaves(published in 1955),No One Wrote Letters to the Colonel(1961),One Hundred Years of Solitude(1967),A Pre-claimed Murder(1981),Love in the Time of Cholera(1985)and so on.Marquez’s works are known for their unique artistic qualities.They have been not only praised by the writers and critics,but also deeply loved by their readers.Wonderful imagination and the social realm from ancient times till now are combined with a seamless in the works,which are all displayed through his outstanding narrative talent.This paper is based on the concept,structure and classification of the Narrative Discourse and New Narrative Discourse which is written by the French narratologist Gerard Genette.The related theories of the domestic narrative experts Hu Yamin,Shen Dan and Luo Gang and reviews of Marquez from domestic and foreign experts are also adopted.The article uses the theory of narratology to explore the narrative characteristics of Marquez’s works.In the introduction part,the author briefly introduces the creation and research status of Marquez’s novels,and then describes the related concepts and research scope of the narrative theory in this paper.Finally,the purpose,significance and research methods of this paper are stated.As is known to all,Marquez’s unique narrative style arouses amazing and attention of critics and readers of the world.His main works all develop the plot,depict the characters,deepen the theme and convey the comprehension of reality with a unique narrative method.On the basis of the basic conception of narratology,this paper designs the chapters of this thesis as the narrative time,narrative angle and narrative structure,and analyzes the characteristics of the works and the deep meaning of their expression from the three parts.Combining with the specific content of the novel,the first chapter analyzes the narrative time from the use of the narrative order,duration and frequency in Marquez’s works to examine the scientific nature of the above three parts in the text.The second chapter discusses the narrative angle of Marquez’s novels from the narrative level,the narrator and the perspective,and probes the construction of the hierarchy and authenticity of the works while giving an understanding of the multi-angle narrative art of Marquez’s novels.The third chapter dissects the narrative structure of Marquez’s novels mainly from the surface structure,deep structure and the meaning of the structure to further analyze the connotation of the works.The conclusion part summarizes the characteristics of Marquez’s narrative art.Marquez’s bold experiment and reform of the narrative strategy of the novel not only creates his unique charm of narrative art,but also realizes the perfect unity of the modernist creation and realism.In addition,it shows the combination of his stylistic consciousness and spiritual demands and becomes a guide that leads the times. |
