"Substitution of translation for literary creation" is a very special way of poetry creation in the history of contemporary Chinese literature.It mainly refers to the poets between 1949 and 1976,such as Guo Moruo,Mu Dan,He Qifang,Feng Zhi and Shi Zhecun,replaced the poetic creation in the form of poetic translation to express their realistic aspirations and art demands which could not be expressed in the cultural context at that time.The poets vaguely broke through the suppression on literature by mainstream ideology at that time,difficultly gave out real voice of intellectuals in the harsh realistic environment by the way of "substitution of translation for literary creation".It is also this "substitution of translation for literary creation" that recorded the writers' subtle mental attitude in the age of extremes,and also indeed reflected complex spiritual phenomena and literary scene in the harsh environment.This paper,centers on these poets' translation works,aims to explore the relationship between their generation and the context of the times,the potential discourse and the poetic meaning behind the translation.This paper consists of three parts.In the preface,the author first sorts the research results and research status related to this topic out,explains the research methods of this thesis,and explains the value and significance of the literary history possessed by the phenomenon of "substitution of translation for literary creation".Chapter one analyzes the relationship between the personal experience of the poet and the phenomenon of "substitution of translation for literary creation",moreover,the author analyzes the characteristics of the text of "substitution of translation for literary creation" in that particular context,explains the theoretical basis and legitimacy of phenomenon of "substitution of translation for literary creation" from the perspective of translation.In the second chapter,the author uses the method of "close reading of texts" to analyze the deep connotations in these works and to reveal the secrets behind the poem from realistic demands and artistic propositions.Chapter three clarifies the poetic value of the phenomenon of "substitution of translation for literary creation" in the history of contemporary Chinese literature,and tries to show that its existence is of great significance in the construction of the writer's image and the inheritance and development of the spirit of intellectuals.
