The basically evolution trend of Water margin illustrations had been fundamentally completed in Ming Dynasty.Although it also created an "Qun-Xiang"style,the Water margin illustrations in Ming Dynasty still were considered to be uncreative and uncharacteristic,because it coped all kinds of edition of Ming Dynasty.The trend of Water margin illustrations can be generalized about PingLin illustrations type,RongYutang illustrations type-YuanWuya illustrations type-Water margin cards.From this four types,approaches of Water margin illustrations'expression had been displayed.At first,illustrations are endowed with ability of expression as language,that are the two wings of human's expression.Secondly,illu--strations' expression should be accomplished from Verbellcon,which means artists should convey his or her emotions in the production,so as to make the illustration meaningfully.In Water margin illustrations,this Verbellcon mainly made up from themes,focus,composition,colour and styles.PingLin illustrations type can be called the mental images of folk reception for Water margin,and RongYutang illustrations type can be seen as the most favorable tool to express the artists' emotions,conceptions and symbols.at last,YuanWuya illustrations type is a representation for scholar's interesting.Water margin illustrations really contained literary criticism.All kinds of forms can be called TiZan,which is an inevitable product of the art of Chinese tradition.In the aspects of literary style and function,TiZan is the inheritance and development of XiangZan and TiBa,which also set rules for the relation between the TiZan and illustrations.The literature acceptance of Water Margin reflected in illustrations are formed by two parts,that is the literary theme and female view.Theory of literary criticism can be realized for three parts,which are the knowledge and evaluation about evaluation about fiction,novel plot and historical origin of characterization.The review of Water Margin illustrations should be a member of the family of literary criticism,because it's form,function and style are comply with this standard.Water margin illustrations really contained parts.First,the ranking of people appearing on the poker means the attitude of the artist;Second,the views of poker can be seen as criticisms consisted from characters criticism and social even historical criticism.Thired,the image of poker on behalf of literary acceptance of gentlemen,making a intertextuality with the former.At last,the Water Margin Poker should be painted on 1627 at the latest,based on two evidences.Scanning overall the history of Water margin illustrations,artists as the subject of literary criticism,whose subjectivity is not succeed in one stroke,but grown out of nothing,the same goes for the quality of artists,which can be reflected in the title of illustrations.PingLin illustrations type mainly created by the text,although it's number is great,it didn't allow the artist to creative freedom.RongYutang illustrations type mainly painted by the title of novel,the creative freedom of artists had been limited.Just inYuanWuya and ZhongPing illustrations type,the artist began to get out of control of the text on purpose.At first,as a commercial promotion,they all promoted the spread of the text.While with the fully developing of two,the relationship between the two became complex at last.In case of literary criticism,illustrations can not copar-ed with PingDian,especially for Water Margin and it's illustrations,however the latter also has it's advantage in territory and times,that's the illustrations'internationalization and meeting with great favor in the image age.New period,talking about the significance of illustrations study as well as the research contents,conceptual system,theory and method system for the study of image-text,based on the existing research results,still need many efforts to be done.
