A Practice Report On Transaltion Of An Introduction To Shanxian Fulong Lake

This is a Chinese-English translation practice report.The report is based on the translation practice of An Introduction to Shanxian Fulong Lake which is edited by Shanxian Tourist Administration.The text gives a brief introduction to Shanxian Fulong lake,one of the 4A National Tourist Attractions,including tourism landscape,tourism traffic and service,unique food and so on,which provides wonderful publicity materials for Fulong lake tourist attractions.It is a great honor for the author to participate in the Chinese-English translation practice.Based on it,the author summarizes the various problems that occurred in translation practice,and explores solutions and strategies under the guidance of skopos theory.The author is wishfully hoping that the cases could contribute to the translating field of tourism texts.The paper includes five chapters.The first chapter is “Task Description” of translation practice,in which the author describes the introduction and requirements of the entrusting party and the content of the task.The second chapter is “Process Description” of translation practice,which includes the process in three stages,by the order of translation preparation,translating process and translation evaluation.The third and forth chapters of “Case Analysis” of translation practice,are the most important parts in this paper.In the two chapters,the author analyzes the problems and difficulties in the translation process,and classifies them into two levels: linguistic level and cultural level.The third chapter of “Case Analysis in linguistic level” includes the translation practice of specialized words and four-character structure in vocabulary,and translation practice of serial verbal construction and make-construction,clause and word order in sentence pattern.The forth chapter of “Case Analysis in cultural level” includes the translation practice in culture-loaded words,couplets and folk adage.The author exemplifies the work,problems and strategies in details.The last chapter is “Reflection and Summary”,in which the author summarizes the deficiencies of translated version and discusses the translator literacy in three levels.The author sincerely hopes that this paper could publicize Shanxian Fulong lake tourist attractions and provide reference for translating the field of tourism texts.
