| With the deepening of economic globalization and the development of information technology,new types of interpreting are showing up.Telephone interpreting,as an immediate interpretation over the phone,has characteristics of cost-effective,high efficiency and convenience.Relying on its advantages,telephone interpreting has gained its popularity among enterprises and institutions.This report is based on telephone interpreting project of the UnionPay card and makes an analysis with selected cases and discusses roles of interpreters in telephone interpreting and strategies to achieve them.This thesis can be divided into four parts;the first one is task description,which is about the project background and project requirements;the second one is task process,including working preparations,learning skills for telephone interpreting and procedures in telephone interpreting.The working preparations include preparing terminologies,learning protocols and pre-using software;the third one is case analysis.The author analyzes interpreter’s visibility awareness,empowerment awareness and interpreter’s stances and roles to emphasize the importance of interpreter’s subjectivity awareness;the last one is the summary of this report and enlightenment for the study of telephone interpreting.By analyzing this report,the author finds that: firstly,interpreters need to have sufficient preparations before interpreting;secondly,interpreters should make full use of visibility awareness to participate in the whole dialogue and to gate-keep some sensitive information;thirdly,interpreters should work as a mediator to empower the disadvantaged party to get access to equal information so that problems could be solved for clients. |
