| The material of this C-E translation project is excerpted from Investment-attracting Policy Environment Introduction in Suqian on the government website,http://www.suqian.gov.cn.The translated text is more than ten thousand Chinese characters.The author,on the basis of the Skopos theory and combining the difficulties in translation,writes this report after thorough analysis.The information related to achieve the best investment return can be defined as valuable information(Zeng,2005).Through the C-E translation practice,the author finds a large number of valuable information involved in this text,which give rise to two difficulties in translation:(1)difficulty in translating connotative redundancy of valuable information,including the ambiguity of specific terminology and the abundance of low correlation information.Literal translation will lead to the ambiguity of information.(2)difficulty in translating repetitive redundancy of valuable information.Literal translation will lead to the verbosity of information.This report discusses and explores the methods for the difficulties in translation.The author considers that the translation of investment-attracting texts should focus on the target language readers,and the target text should provide valuable investment information to achieve maximum efficiency.Therefore,the following translation methods have been adopted to solve the difficulties:(1)For the first difficulty,note-adding and reconstruction methods are adopted.(2)For the second difficulty,omission is adopted.The difficulties and methods help the author have a better understanding of translation,strengthen translation ability and provide some experience for future translation.Meanwhile,the translation methods proposed by the author also give certain enlightenment and reference to the translation of similar texts. |
