"Cold" "Hot" is a set of antonyms used frequently in modern Chinese. However, there is no detailed investigation and study on the symmetry and asymmetry of the use of both. Therefore,in this paper, guided by markedness theory, symmetry theory, cognitive theory and latent theory, based on the CCL corpus data statistics,I selected the antonym of "Cold" and"Hot" as the research object, investigated and analyzed the symmetry and asymmetry of"Cold" and "Hot" systematically and comprehensively, and further explored the reasons behind the symmetry and asymmetry between the two.In the end,I hoped it can effectively guide the teaching Chinese as foreign languages through the exploration of the causes of symmetry and asymmetry. This paper was divided into five chapters, the main contents of each chapter are as follows:Chapter one is introduction,it mainly made some sort and explanation of the research significance and value, research theory and methods, corpus source.Chapter two mainly studied the symmetry and asymmetry of "Cold" and "Hot" from the perspective of lexical level. In terms of lexical meaning, the basic meaning of "Cold" and"Hot" is symmetrical, and the extension of the basic meaning is symmetrical and partially asymmetrical. In terms of the number of words, the number of "Hot" words is significantly more than "Cold" affected by the quantity of the item.In terms of word formation, the structures of "Cold" and "Hot" all have six types of structures, partial formal, conjunctive, moving object, moving complementary, main predicate and additional. There are five forms of formation: form symmetry and significance symmetry, form symmetry and significance incomplete symmetry, form symmetry and significance complete asymmetry, form asymmetry and significance asymmetry, form asymmetry and significance symmetry.Chapter three studied the symmetry and asymmetry of "Cold" and "Hot" in the syntactic level.First of all,The emphasis is the symmetrical and asymmetrical representation of "Cold"and "Hot" overlays when acting as different syntactic components. Then it examined the performance of "Cold" "Hot" in the sentence and analyzed the symmetry and asymmetry ofthe two mainly by the syntactic and semantic performance of "Cold" and "Hot" in these three syntactic structure: "Cold / Hot +了+N/NP" "V+ Cold / Hot +了+N/NP" and "Hot 了 N/NP,Cold 了 N/NP".Chapter four explained the symmetry and asymmetry of "Cold" and "Hot" in lexical and syntactic levels, and stated the causes. The symmetry of the two is mainly restricted by the internal economic principle of the language, and people are in pursuit of saving power and convenience in the process of language expression. However, the causes of the asymmetry between the two are more complicated,There are internal causes of language such as the restriction of semantic harmony, the non-synchronization of semantic evolution and the uniqueness of antonymy. There are also external causes of language such as cognitive and psychological reasons.Chapter five studied the influence of the symmetry and asymmetry of "Cold" and "Hot"on second language acquisition. The symmetry of "Cold" and "Hot" is beneficial to second language learners for symmetric analogy learning, and the asymmetry of the two will interfere with analogy learning of second language learners. In view of this, according to the results of the above analysis and research,we put forward targeted teaching suggestions for the acquisition and teaching of "Cold" and "Hot" in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, hoping to provide practical teaching services through ontology research.Chapter six summarized the main points of the paper, make clear the research conclusion of this paper and prospects for future research.
