Changes in social environment during the Japanese Colonial Period reflect not only the colony status of Taiwan,but also the foreign culture brought by the colonists.Cultural input stimulates changes in lifestyle,as well as the business marketing strategies of Japanese businessmen and how they introduce and develop commercial activities.Correspondingly,the consumption trend of the time was influenced,undergoing never-seen-before changes to art design and package expression of products.Gradually,diverse design styles and visual styles were presented to the public.Such a rich combination of package appearances reveals the package culture of the colonized Taiwan,and represents a time of significance in the modern history of Taiwan design.This article will investigate the packaging design of goods in Taiwan’s folk life during the Japanese Colonial Period.And it will also be compared with the packaging design of good,during the early stage of Japanese colonial period and other colonies.The main point is the analysis of the rich symbolic characteristics under the image of Taiwan’s “Colonial image”.We can understand the unique historical and humanistic connotation under the change of the times by the dichotomy of the“signifier”and“signified”.And this article will also discuss the derivative of the Colonial symbol after the end of colonial career.It can provide argument for future research in related fields.We can also under stand the rich cultural information of modern Taiwan during the process of historical alternation.
